Mujeres - new album 'Un sentimiento importante'
Mujeres you said ? They will be soon celebrating their 10th anniversary as a band, with tons of concerts in Europe and the USA, four albums on the counter.... One of the most remarkable bands on the Spanish Indie scene, and also the most often programmed band at the Primavera Festival....
«Un Sentimiento Importante» tells about the friendship ties between the members of this punk-garage trio. The cover shows a scorpion on the map of Spain.
«Un Sentimiento Importante» (an important feeling) is: making sandwiches with sardines on the hood of the car at a petrol station in Bujaraloz - with a bank card as a buuter knife. An important feeling is: when your father dies on the eve of a European tour and the rst beer you drink in his memory is with your bandmates. An important feeling is: play for seven people and have fun as if they were a thousand. An important feeling is: three concerts in a row at the Primavera Festival. An important feeling is: your tour van that is looted while you are eating a 1$ pizza slice or when you land in Vancouver and are denied entry to the US while the other members are put on the roster by Immigration.
«Last summer Martí left the band. We know each other from childhood, we have learned to play together and suddenly we are wondering what this group brings us, it doesn’t give us money, but it does give us a lot of emotions. This album lists everything on what was good and bad, from our rst shows when everything started and we were young and naive, to today, and we feel almost nostalgic», says Yago Alcover.
The result is a solid collection of punk/garage songs in Spanish, musically a cross between Los Saicos, the Oh Sees and Los Cheyennes, about the things that stay with or lack, about what brings people together or tears them apart .
The single «Un Sentimiento Importante» is, as they say, «the slow, la bonita (a beautiful song)».... a ballad in the form of an anthem, with a text about love and friendship.
«Un Sentimiento Importante», the new album by Mujeres, (completely sung in Spanish), on 62TV Records.
